Somewhere Between Dreams and Reality with Etereo

For Downtown Design 2026, The Lounge by Etereo reimagines the familiar comforts of home  through an unexpected composition of art, colour and sculptural forms, inviting visitors into a world somewhere between imagination and reality.

What if the spaces we inhabit were shaped by the freedom of our imagination, where different periods, materials and artistic expressions could coexist without convention? For Etereo, this question became the starting point for The Lounge, an immersive environment conceived as an invitation to step inside a designer's dream.

Founded in Dubai by Stefania Digregorio and Mirko Sala Tenna, Etereo moves between architecture, interiors and art, with projects spanning a private residence at Bvlgari Residences and the restoration of a historic palazzo on Venice's Grand Canal. For Downtown Design 2026, the studio transforms the conventional VIP lounge into something closer to an imagined private residence.

"We wanted to reinterpret the idea of a domestic interior, creating a space that feels intimate and familiar, yet unexpected and slightly theatrical," explain the designers.

Beyond a sculptural entrance of light and flowing drapery, interconnected spaces unfold against a backdrop of deep blue, punctuated by burgundy, yellow and softer green. Rich fabrics, reflective surfaces and sculptural furniture create an interplay between domestic warmth and theatrical expression.

Bespoke Silestone tables by Cosentino and a bas-relief mural by Zahar Paints introduce contrasting textures, while sculptures by Arnaldo Pomodoro and Corrado Cagli, presented with Brun Fine Art, bring art into the experience of the interior rather than treating it as something simply displayed. Yet beyond its visual expression, The Lounge is conceived as a place for connection, conversation and discovery.

"For us, design is not only about what we see, but also about how a space makes us feel and how it influences the way we interact with one another."

Perhaps that is where the dream finds its meaning: in creating a place that feels at once unfamiliar and deeply welcoming, where imagination becomes an experience to be shared.
