Within Nilufar Grand Hotel at Milan Design Week 2026, david/nicolas present a signature room developed in collaboration with de Gournay, Iwan Maktabi, and Nilufar: an immersive interior conceived as a complete environment. Framed as a microcosm within the wider exhibition, the space unfolds through an embroidered wall and ceiling treatment by de Gournay and a custom carpet by Iwan Maktabi, creating a continuous visual landscape shaped by rhythm, repetition, and quiet movement.

Set against this enveloping backdrop, the room’s rectilinear furniture introduces a deliberate counterpoint, balancing geometric rigor with the softer fluidity of the surrounding pattern. For Iwan Maktabi, the collaboration extends its ongoing dialogue with contemporary design through a bespoke piece that dissolves the boundaries between floor, wall, and ceiling, contributing to one of Nilufar’s most atmospheric presentations this year.
