LATINA’s Familiar Place

For Dubai Design Week 2026, LATINA and C’est ici Design transform an industrial gallery into an imagined Latin American home, where heritage, contemporary design and the art of gathering come together.

What does it mean to bring the spirit of a place somewhere entirely new? Not by recreating its architecture or reproducing familiar imagery, but by capturing the atmosphere, traditions and subtle details that make it feel like home.

At UrArtU Gallery in Dubai's Alserkal Avenue, LATINA and C’est ici Design explore this idea through an immersive installation celebrating Latin American craftsmanship and contemporary living.

Set against the gallery's industrial architecture, the collaboration introduces a world of warmth, texture and cultural expression, creating an unexpected encounter between two seemingly contrasting environments.

Drawing inspiration from the architectural character of Cartagena and the diverse landscapes of Latin America, C’est ici Design interprets familiar elements through a contemporary lens.

Monumental archways, intimate courtyards, tropical vegetation and natural materials become part of a carefully composed spatial experience, where the boundaries between architecture, landscape and interior design begin to dissolve.

Within this setting, LATINA presents a curated selection of collectible furniture, art and objects by Latin American designers and craftspeople. Each creation carries traces of its origins, from traditional techniques passed down through generations to materials and artistic expressions reinterpreted for contemporary life.

Instead of displaying these pieces in isolation, C’est ici Design integrates them into an imagined domestic environment, where objects become part of the architecture and everyday rituals of living.

Underlying the collaboration is a shared appreciation for the cultural meaning of home. Both LATINA and C’est ici Design bring perspectives shaped by Latin American heritage and their experiences of building creative practices in Dubai, a city where different identities continually meet and evolve.

Ultimately, the installation is as much about connection as it is about design. Beyond the individual objects, it celebrates the spaces in which people gather, exchange stories and find a sense of belonging, reminding us that home is not always a place, but something we carry with us.
