Architecture and Design Commission of Saudi Arabia | Jusoor Design Collection

At Jusoor Design Collections during Milan Design Week 2026, Iwan Maktabi collaborates with Saudi designers Abeer AlRabiah and Albandari Sulaiman on the CORA Collection, a series of twelve seating pieces inspired by five coral species from Saudi Arabia. Transforming handwoven carpets into sculptural, three-dimensional stools, the collection reflects Iwan Maktabi’s ongoing ability to extend textile tradition into new contemporary forms.

Rooted in both personal memory and environmental awareness, CORA draws on the rhythm, resilience, and chromatic depth of coral formations, while three bleached pieces underscore the fragility of marine ecosystems. Within the wider exhibition, Iwan Maktabi’s contribution stands out for the way it brings together craftsmanship, material experimentation, and a quietly powerful reflection on preservation.
